In order to improve the collaboration of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi of Politeknik STIA LAN Jakarta with international universities, Politeknik STIA LAN Jakarta invited academics from Brazil. She is Prof. Dr. Paula Chies Schommer from the Department of Public Administration, Santa Catarina University, Brazil. On the first day, Professor Paula conducted a research exploration with the Public Sector Business Administration (ABSP), State Development Administration (APN), and Public Sector Human Resource Management (MSDMA) study programs.
This activity was opened by the Director of STIA LAN Polytechnic Jakarta Prof. Dr. Nurliah Nurdin, MA, who welcomed the arrival of Prof. Paula, who is a fellow speaker at the IIAS Conference in Rome in June 2022. Paula on her sabbatical leave visited Jakarta for the first time and held a series of academic activities for 4 consecutive days. Among them was a discussion with the ABSP study program with the theme “In Depth Discussion Research Theme, Collaborative Governance In The Provision of Public Service. “This activity was filled with research exposure by ABSP lecturers, namely Arifiani, Hamidah and Heny, with the research title “Strategy to Improve Non Financial Performance Strategy of Regionally Owned to Improve Enterprises in Indonesia” (Study on Indonesia Perumda, Drinking Water or Drinking Water Regional Public Company).
Prof. Paula’s activities continued in the next session, namely In Depth Discussion with the research theme “Open Government, Equity and Accountability” with the APN and MSDMA study programs. Prof. Paula offered research related to Open Government and its relationship to equality and accountability, with study loci in Brazil, Mexico, Indonesia, and Venezuela as members of the Open Government Partnership. The second session was attended by APN and MSDMA lecturers such as Izzul, Nila, Nayu, Alih, Gati, Mala, Nurliah, Ratri, Aulia, Porman, Keisha, and Budi Tumanggor.
The discussion was very dynamic, and each party also explored opportunities for cooperation in other fields such as journal management, student exchanges, public lectures, and further studies to the doctoral level for lecturers. Other activities carried out with Paula at the STIA LAN Jakarta Polytechnic campus were lectures, with master and doctoral students and research discussions with undergraduate students. Hopefully the collaboration will bring great benefits to both universities to further develop government openness in order to encourage public participation, transparency and equality.
